Translation work is not merely a question of finding the appropriate expressions in the target language. This in itself is a difficult task which makes absolute equivalence difficult to achieve and often inappropriate. The fundamental principle of modern translation is functional equivalence, i.e. preserving the character of the initial text and all its consequences. Providing a translation service on this basis is therefore, from our perspective, a very complex process which we at SOPHIA control in detail at every stage.

• Translations of Specialised Texts
  SOPHIA provides its customers with quality translations of professional texts including official papers and documents, general and personal documentation, as well as business contracts, and manuals. When dealing with extensive projects, we ensure uniformity, consistency of terminology, proofreading and editing, final graphic processing, binding, and delivery in the required format and time.
• Proofreading and Editing by Qualified Native Speakers
  We ensure the conversion of texts for our customers into a required language and that it is in a form that both corresponds with the text created by the person but also for whom the language is his or her native tongue. Proofreading and editing of this type is particularly important where it concerns documents that are to be presented publicly or published.
• Legal Certification of Translations
  Certification is a requirement for the validity of documents used in official international contacts that have been translated from a foreign language into another language, and vice versa. Our customers make use of the highly qualified translators working for SOPHIA who have been appointed by the relevant regional courts to act as legal experts for the languages in question, and who are therefore authorised to translate a text and provide an official stamp, or additional certification, on its accuracy.
• Delivery Terms
  SOPHIA complies with the requirements of its customers and is able to meet very short term delivery times. A document consisting of several pages can be translated within several hours depending on the length of the initial text and the required target language. Were a document to involve extensive documentation, we follow the rules of effective project management to manage and process such an order and apply the appropriate CAT tools available.
• Electronic Signature
  In view of the increasing requirements of our customers to handle individual translations in a secure way, SOPHIA offers to secure e-mail communication by electronic signature. Should a higher level of security be required for safeguarding translations, it is possible to code individual documents using a strong coding algorithm. The precondition for this is a signature on the contract and the replacement of keys.
• Archiving Completed Translations
  SOPHIA archives all delivered and returned documents, unless a customer explicitly states otherwise. In such cases we are able to return the delivered texts to our customers within several hours. All texts are handled with the strictest confidence.
